Omar was a the 2008 Most Improved Player Award winner
and has one more remaining season here at Contreras.

On Tuesday, December 16, 2008, Angelo Agustin was named MVP of the 2008 Contreras Cobras Football Team.  Angelo was a three year Varsity Starter, one at Belmont and his final two Seasons here at Contreras.
 
Angelo, was selected 2nd Team Offense “All-City, Invitational Division” and was also selected to the Most Valuable Offensive Lineman “All Southern League”.

In only it’s second year of existence, 8 Contreras Cobra Football Players were selected to the All Southern League Football Squad.  5 Cobras were 1st Team selections and an additional 4 Cobras were selected to the=2 02nd Teams.

COBRAS CAPTURE 3rd AT GABRIELINO LINEMAN’S COMPETITION

On Wednesday, July 09, 2008, in their first ever, competitive lineman event in the schools short history, the Contreras Linemen captured 3rd place at the 10th Annual Gabrielino High School Lineman’s Competition bringing home the Football Team’s first Trophy in off-season tournaments.
 
The Cobra Linemen finished first in the 4 x 110 Relay, anchored by Defensive End Desmond McBroom-Marsh.  Angelo, Augustin, Charles Perez and Jonathan Hernandez comprised the rest of the relay team.
 
Cobra Power also shined bright in the Bench Press Competition as the Cobra Team combined for 97 Reps, missing out of first place by only 9 Reps.

The Cobra Lineman missed out on first place in the sled drive by a miniscule thee hundredths of a second, in a time of 6.97 Seconds.  The winning time was 6.94 Seconds. The Cobras 5 Man Sled Team consisted of Alejandro Villafana, Angelo Augustin, Ivan Guererro, Eric Martinez and Desmond McBroom-Marsh.

Pineda and Lopez named Co-MVP’s

On Saturday, January 12, 2008, both Carlos Pineda and Orlando Lopez were named Co-MVP’s of the Inaugural 2007 Contreras Cobras Football Team.  Carlos and Orlando were voted on by their fellow teammates, who recognized their contributions to the initial Cobra Squad.

Carlos, in his very first year of ever playing Football, was selected to the “All Southern League”, 1st Team Offensive Squad.  Carlos started on both Offensive and Defense and is the Cobra Record Leader for Receiving and Kick Return Yardage.

Orlando, is was selected 2nd Team Defense “All-City, Invitational Division” and was also selected to the “All Southern League”, 1st Team Defensive Squad.  Orlando was the Cobras Defensive Captain and also scored a Touchdown on the Offensive side of the ball.  Olando is the Cobra Record Holder for Tackles in a Season with 54.

Contreras High School has two players selected to the 2008 "Fiesta Bowl".

 

Carlos Pineda and Orlando Lopez have been selected to represent the Cobras in "The BATTLE for Los Angeles".  The 2008 Los Angeles Fiesta Bowl High School All-Star Game which pits All-Players from the Los Angeles City Section vs. the CIF Southern Section.  The game will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at Los Angeles Wilson High School.  Game time is 4:00 PM.

 

Orlando was 2nd Team, All Los Angeles Invitational Division and 1st team All-Southern League Defense.  Carlos was 1st Team, All-Southern League Back.
